Smoke alarm saves elderly woman from Worksop fire

An elderly woman was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation following a fire at her home in Worksop last night (Thursday).

The woman was alerted to the fire at the property on Bracebridge Avenue by a smoke alarm.

Two crews from Worksop fire station were called to the scene around 8.25pm.

The fire is believed to have started when a cigarette was not fully extinguished and the woman fell asleep.
