The members of Women’s Hour celebrated their anniversary at the meeting held in the chapel schoolroom on Wednesday 12th March. The pianist was Sheila Evans and Kay Edgar presided and introduced the speaker, the Rev Ruth Simpson. Ruth’s theme for the afternoon was friendship the talk was interesting and was enjoyed by all present. Special refreshments of cake and tea and coffee were enjoyed by the members and guests. The meeting on Wednesday 26th March at 2pm has been given the title Poets People.
Model railway display
There was a steady stream of visitors of all ages to the model railway display given by Scunthorpe and District Model Railway Club in the chapel schoolroom on Saturday 15th March. The Methodist Chapel would like to thank everyone who supported this fundraising event in any way, baking, moving furniture, making tea, or taking the time to call in, and a big thank you to the model railway team. £200 was raised for chapel funds.
The service on Sunday 16th March was taken by Deacon Laura MacBean. At the end of the service Laura was given donations for the Forge project in Scunthorpe which had been collected the previous week at the monthly food bank collection. The service on Sunday 23rd March at 10.30am will be taken by Mr M. White. Elaine Cameron will take the Mothering Sunday service on Sunday March 30th.
The third Lent meeting in the series takes place on Sunday 23rd March at the Eau Centre Scotter at 6pm. The evening will begin with a short act of worship followed by the address which will be given by the Venerable Justine Chapman, Archdeacon of Boston, and the subject will be Hagar.
The next lunch takes place on Friday 21st at noon and donations are for Emmaus, a charity which works with the homeless.
The mobile library is due to call at the Green on Monday 24th March from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Scotter Pre-school are holding a coffee morning on Saturday 22nd March in the chapel schoolroom from 10am to noon.
