Members of Women’s Hour held their annual carol service on Wednesday 11th December in the chapel schoolroom. Brenda Gwyther presided and welcomed everyone and introduced the Rev Ruth Simpson who took the service. The pianist for the afternoon was Sheila Evans, and the members were joined by friends from the village and St Peter’s Church. Ruth began the service with a reading from St John’s Gospel which was followed by the first carol As with Gladness. Each table in the room had been given a model from the Nativity and as the Christmas story was told these were put in place to make the traditional scene. The service ended with the carol In the Bleak Mid-winter.

Jackie Pettit thanked Ruth for a lovely service and said how nice it was that the service had been so well supported. Sue Smith thanked the members for their invitation on behalf of St Peter’s Church. The service was followed by a tea to which all the members had contributed.
