CARING kids from Whites Wood Lane Junior School have been enjoying looking after some new residents – some newly hatched chicks.

Year three and four pupils took care of nine wonderful baby chickens, something which school business manager Rachel Ward said the children took great pleasure in.

“The kids have loved looking after them and they’ve even given them all some brilliant names – my favourite is Cheryl Tweedy,” she said. “Once they hatched they moved them into their own little shelter and took it in turns to keep them clean and make sure they had enough water. They’re all fascinated by how they went from eggs to these lovely baby chicks.”
