Rotherham’s first ever first ever Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) Pride event has been hailed a success.

The Pink Picnic in Clifton Park, hosted by the Pride of Rotherham, saw groups of people from various backgrounds come together to promote and celebrate the LGBT community that live or visit Rotherham.

The event featured stalls, music and entertainment.

Police officers, police community support officers and special constables from South Yorkshire Police attended to engage with community members and provide help, information and advice on crime prevention and personal safety.

PC Darren Boulding said: “It was amazing to see such a great turnout for the event, with people from all communities coming together to enjoy a great family day out in the park.”
