A BOOK charting the history of an iconic Gainsborough firm has won the Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology’s first annual Floral Murray award.

The Rose Brothers (Gainsborough) Ltd, co-written by Susan Edlington, Sara Edlington and Dr D Rose, contains a wealth of memories -from the involvement with the Dambusters during World War Two to providing a sports field for the town.

The prize of a framed certificate and cheque for £200 was awarded after the society’s annual general meeting in Burgh-le-Marsh.

Society spokesman Rod Callow said: “Floral Murray was an exceptional part of Lincolnshire community life - this book was the perfect winner to reflect this.”
