Pupils at Gainsborough’s Queen Elizabeth’s High School impressed their guest when they welcomed a special visitor from China.

Liu Jiankai, President of Tangshan Yingcai School in China, visited QEHS as part of a tour of Lincolnshire to learn about our education system, and much more.

QEHS headteacher David Allsop said that the way the pupils welcome Mr Jiankai was a credit to the school.

“He came as part of a broader tour of the county to strengthen existing links with Lincolnshire and his district of Tangshan in China,” said Mr Allsop.

“We had lunch with him and then he spent time talking to our sixth form students about their education and aspirations before he sat in on an assembly and went on a tour of the school.”

“He also sat in on a year 11 maths class and a year eight technology class before spending a while talking about the management of the school.”

“He had a lovely time and was really impressed by the students and the range of our curriculum.”

“It was a great opportunity for the school and our students to make links with another culture as there is so much that we can learn from each other.”
