STYLISH youngsters from Trent Valley Academy and Queen Elizabeth’s High School said goodbye to the school year with two very special evenings.

TVA year 11 pupils enjoyed a prom at Gainsborough Golf Club while students from QEHS had a glamorous evening at the West Retford Hotel.

Jane Butler, head of year 11 at TVA, said that a magnificent evening was had by all.

“It was absolutely fabulous,” she said. “We couldn’t have had a better evening.”

The TVA pupils were lucky enough to enjoy some rare and unusual entertainment.

“We began the evening with four members of staff performing and entertaining the students,” said Mrs Butler.

“One member of staff played the guitar and all of the kids sang along, then we had a group and a disco and everything was brilliant.”

“It was a great way to send each of the student in to their future careers and was without a doubt the best prom we’ve ever had.”

“The students were a credit to themselves and the school as their behaviour was exemplary.”

She added: “Myself and Mr Gibson would like to thank all pupils for for being such a fantastic group and we’d like to wish them well in everything they do in the future.”

Meanwhile Fiona Burrage, from QEHS, said that their prom was a spectacular occasion, made all the more special by the fact that it was organised by the pupils.

“It was a great night,” she said. “The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We had a barbecue, a disco and the pupils held their annual awards for things like prom king and queen, cutest couple and best smile.”

“The majority of the year group were there and it was definitely a good way to see them off in style.”

“The prom was organised entirely by a small group of students who did the whole thing themselves, which is incredible - they deserve an awful lot of credit for the work they put in.”

Mrs Burrage added: “We would like to wish the whole year group all the very best in the future.”

“They have been a great year who have shown much commitment and been extremely hard-working.”
