Pubs put on fun for the community

AS your Gainsborough Standard continue to support our local pubs and highlight the great work they do for the community, two pubs put on great events to entertain their villages.

This week, as part of our Support Our Pubs campaign, we bring you news and pictures from the Ferryhouse in East Stockwith and the Brickmakers Arms in Walkeringham.

The Ferry House was the location for a special community fun day.

“It was organised by the East Stockwith and Walkerith Village Hall Charity, with money rasied going to St Peter’s Church,” said landlord Matthew Calvert. “We let them use our car park and provided food and drink.”

Matthew went on: “There was a lot of stalls and things going on - we had everything from facepainting, games and a bouncy castle for the kids plus stalls selling cakes and jewellery and stuff like that. There was also a Play Your Cards Right stall which was a laugh.”

He continued: “It went really well on the day and a lot of people came along. It was really busy and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.”

The Brickmakers Arms also put on a beer festival along with other sponsored events, a car wash and barbecue.
