A POEM about Gainsborough could win you £1,000 in a new poetry competition.

United Press are running the competition to find the best poetry about your home town or area. Entry is free.

A United Press spokesman said: “Poems written from personal observation and experience are the most heartfelt, so we’re expecting some great entries from Gainsborough.”

The best poem will receive £1,000 and you can send up to three entries, which must be no more than 25 lines and 160 words each. Send your poems to Local Poem, United Press Ltd, Admail 3735, London EC1B 1JB or visit www.unitedpress.co.uk by 31st December.
