A KIVETON dad will set off on a charity cycle tomorrow - to the seaside.

Les Gresty and his boss Scott Muldoon, along with a team of family and friends, will cycle from Kiveton to Cleethorpes in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Les was inspired to raise funds for the North Anston-based charity after hearing about Callum Smith and Naimh Power, who both passed away at the hospice.

He said: “After hearing the stories of Niamh and little Callum I wanted to help raise as much money as possible for Bluebell Wood, therefore, I decided the bike ride would be a perfect way to do this, and to also challenge myself.”

“As a father I cannot begin to imagine the loss of a child, I hope my fundraising can help continue the great work that Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice does for families.”

The team will set off on their 68 mile journey from the Saxon Public House in Kiveton early tomorrow morning and aim to arrive in Cleethorpes around seven hours later.

Les said they hope to raise around £5,000 and are well on their way to reaching their target.

Sarah Champion, chief executive at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: “Local supporters like Les and Scott are vital and so important to the success of the hospice.”

“It costs £3 million every year to provide the service we do with no statutory government funding, therefore without the hard work and determination of supporters like these we couldn’t support as many families as we do.”
