More children than ever before took part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Notts County Council says 10,186 children registered to take part in the challenge and more than half of those – 5,647 in all – read all six books to complete the challenge.

In comparison, the county-wide figures for 2012 saw 8,896 children signed up for the challenge, with 4,973 reading all six books.
