North Anston: Golden start to the new year at Woodlands

A care home in North Anston has hit the gold standard for 2014.

Woodlands Care Home was awarded gold after scoring top marks under the National Standard Care Homes grading criteria.

The home was given top grades following an annual inspection by Rotherham Borough Council.

And home manager Kerry Dodd says the award is recognition for the hard work and effort of all the staff.

“I think we are one of only two homes in the whole region to have got the gold award,” she said.

“Certainly, they are not given out very often and I have only heard of one other who has achieved what we have.”

“There are three levels of grading, gold, silver and bronze, and obviously gold is the top one.”

“We only just missed out on it last year with a very close silver, so it’s nice to have gone one better this time.”

“The inspectors looked at all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home, including the level of service we offered, cleanliness, efficiency, care of residents and their happiness and well-being.”

“We scored highly in all categories and that’s something we are all very proud of and something we will keep working to maintain and improve on in the future.”

The gold award is not the only new thing about Woodlands at the moment as the home itself has had makeover.

“We have had a new reception area put in and this has added something new to the home,” continued Kerry.

“Not only is it a good reception, it is now a nice additional seating area for residents.”

“It also now provides a professional looking seating area for visiting professionals and guests when they come.”

“We have tea and coffee facilities in there and the whole atmosphere just gives off an even more professional air than it did before.”

“It looks really good and we are very happy with it.”

“All in all, it’s been a very good start to the year with the new reception and now our gold award and we are very happy about both.”
