A FORMER Wales High teacher is opening a new theatre school in Sheffield.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts are planning to start a Theatre School at Westfield Sports College this September.

Principals Ken and Pat Davison held an open evening in June and were delighted when over 30 new students joined.

“It was really good to see that even though times are tough, people value the training we offer in Performing Arts,” said Pat, who taught at Wales High.

“We had people queuing up to speak to our teachers, there was a really good response on the night.”

“Many said that there wasn’t really anything like Stagecoach in this part of Sheffield.”

Stagecoach Theatre Arts is a part time Theatre School at over 250 locations, with 40,000 children attending each week.

Ken said: “Many have heard of us from Dragon’s Den, when Duncan Bannantyne announced to the other ‘dragons’ that Stagecoach was the market leader, and how he’d invested in Stagecoach in the early days.”

“One of the main reasons Stagecoach is so popular is that we limit our group sizes, so as we are teaching to fairly small groups, and the children make good progress.”

“We still have some space in each of our groups, and I know it’s a cliche, but our advice is for anyone considering to apply now, to avoid disappointment.”

Ken and Pat have been running Stagecoach schools in Rotherham and Leeds on Saturdays since 2004.
