My moment centre stage

GAINSBOROUGH’s number one community paid for paper the Standard, is at last getting the recognition it deserves.

Last week it was short-listed for Weekly Paper of the Year in the Yorkshire and Humber O2 media awards.

And you guessed it, I have every intension of stealing the show.

Not only has the paper itself been short-listed but lone trainee reporter Andrew Trendell is also up for Young Journalist of the Year.

But since I taught him everything he knows this really is another feather in my cap.

Sadly they don’t have an Old Journalist of the Year category.

One might say this is a little on the ageist side.

But then I suppose when one reaches the lofty heights of the Standard’s main, and best columnist, the fan mail I get from the adoring public is enough.
