Network Rail is hosting a community information event on Saturday 17th May from 10am-2pm in the Methodist Hall, Misterton. It will be a chance to find out about planned improvements to the Great Northern Great Eastern line (between Peterborough and Doncaster via Lincoln). The rise in demand for more passenger and freight services, particularly on arterial routes such as the East Coast Main Line, means that other lines, like the Great Northern Great Eastern line, are being upgraded. Along the route, 61 level crossings will be improved and over 80 miles of track laid so train speeds will be increased to between 60 and 75mph. In addition, Network Rail is renewing or refurbishing 57 bridges.
Charity Cycle Ride
Around our Locals: The sponsored cycle ride that means you can give to the charity of your choice is on Sunday 18th May. Start at the old school site, Misterton, or the ‘local’ of your choice at 12noon and cycle the 10 or 15 mile circuit in a clockwise direction.
A number of businesses will provide refreshments for children, who are participating in this sponsored event, including the Dovecote Café in Misterton – where staff of the adjacent Cycle Barn will be on hand to help with any mechanical problems!
Call in at your ‘local’ for a sponsor form; call 890123 or 07808 187575 for further information. All children must be supervised. Cyclists must observe road safety, and try to wear a helmet.
