ART-LOVERS from around the district enjoyed a top talk from local art historian Maureen Ille as she was welcomed to the July meeting of the Fine Arts Society.
Maureen took a light-hearted look at the message delivered from the borders of the exquisitely illuminated manuscripts executed in the 13th Century – back when most people were unable to read, so the art had to tell a tale.
The next meeting of the Society will be on September 1st when James Robert Lomax will speak on ‘Heiresses, Pious Widows and Royal Confidantes’ – 400 years of formidable women at Temple Newsam.
Visitors are always welcome.
