Dozens of extra food parcels have been purchased by Maltby Food Bank following a donation from local councillors.

Every year councillors are given a small amount of money to spend in their ward. Recently councillors have increasingly used the Leadship Fund to support projects that help those in a disadvantaged position and to help groups take over and manage facilities.

Sean Gibbons, managing director, of Food AWARE which runs the foodbank, said: “We’ve seen an increase in the number of people needing to use our service over the last few months as the impact of the government’s welfare reform programme has hit home, so we really appreciate this support.”
