TALENTED local rockers who have their sights set on reaching the top have made it through to the final stages of a major music competition.

Abandoned Faith, from Worksop and Creswell, are thrilled to have come so far in the Live and Unsigned competition - and are set to take Sheffield by storm next month in the next stage of the heats.

The band consists of Jason Hewitt, 26, Richard Marsden, 34, Steve Jenkins, 37, Roman Marmurowicz, 40 and Aaron Smith 23.

Together, they competed on against hundreds of other hopefuls in a two-minute audition for a place in the regional finals at the end of March.

The winner of the Live and Unsigned competition will perform at the Live Fest music festival at The O2, London and will receive £20,000 for publicity and investment amongst other prizes.

“Things have progressed quickly for the band since we formed,” said guitarist Steve Jenkins.

“We have started to establish a solid fan base and interest in our music seems to be increasing rapidly.”

Abandoned Faith will compete against hundreds of other finalists at Sheffield City Hall in Sheffield on Sunday 25th March.
