Whitwell: HGV diesel suspect thieves charged after police pursuit

A police pursuit after midnight has resulted in two men being charged with stealing diesel from a HGV.

Liam Bradford, 30, of Yeoman Close, Worksop, and Dean Barsley, 31, of Priorswell Road, Worksop, have been remanded in custody charged with theft from a motor vehicle and Barsley was also charged with dangerous driving.

The pursuit started at Lafarge Quarry, in Creswell, in the early hours of Friday 25th April, after the pair were suspected to be involved in diesel theft, following police patrols in the area.

The Vauxhall Astra they were travelling in was stopped on Station Road, Whitwell, after a collision with a police vehicle.

No injuries were sustained and both were arrested.

They appeared at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 26th April and have been remanded in custody until a court hearing at a later date.
