Warnings have been issued by the Met Office for Yorks and Humberside area for heavy rain and conditions that could worsen over the rest of today.

And police are asking drivers to take special care on increasingly wet roads. Hazardous driving conditions are causing problems currently on the M1 between J33, A630 (Catcliffe) and J35, A629 (Thorpe Hesley), because of surface water.

Met Office advice for the region says: “There is the potential for severe weather during Sunday as a complex depression tracks over the UK. There continues to be a great deal of uncertainty in the forecast but the public should be aware of the risk of flooding due to heavy rain as well as strong winds.”
