UPDATE: Worksop: 27-year-old man died after being ‘trapped under concrete’

A 27-year-old man died in the early hours of Tuesday morning after he became ‘trapped under concrete.’

Firefighters and police were called to an industrial premises at Steetley, believed to be Explore Manufacturing, at around 1.20am on 8th July.

Group manager, Bryn Coleman, said: “Using specialist equipment, firefighters from Worksop Fire Station’s White Watch and members of the Specialist Rescue Team from Tuxford worked for some time to free the man, who sadly died.”

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is now under way.”

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the man’s family and his colleagues at this very sad time.”

The Guardian understands that a police cordon has been in place and the premises has been closed until further notice.
