UPDATE: Woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following fatal A57 crash at Aston

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal crash in Aston in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, 6th July).

A man has died and a woman is in critical condition following a crash on the A57 at around 1am on Aston Way, near to the M1 junction 31 roundabout and the fire station, towards Sheffield.

A moped was involved, though it’s currently unclear who the rider was.

Police have located a vehicle, a BMW car, which they believe may also have been involved in the collision.

A 37-year-old Rotherham woman is currently being questioned by police.

The road was closed while police carried out enquiries at the scene but has now re-opened.
