A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman would not disclose what type of drugs were discovered at the scene, but it is thought that a quantity of Black Mamba being prepared for sale could have been seized from the property.

Black Mamba is a “synthetic cannabinoid” or cannabis substitute which until recently was classed as a legal high but has now been made an illegal drug of Class B since new legislation came into force this year.

The “herbal” smoking mixture, which has been known to increase the risk of psychotic illnesses including schizophrenia, has been on the rise in Worksop.

A recent investigation by the Guardian revealed an increase in court cases in which defendants were accused of shoplifting and missing court appointments after suffering “bad side effects” of Black Mamba.

A woman, who lives on Watston Road and who did not wish to be identified, said she “often” saw “people congregating around the property” she believed had been raided, acting suspiciously.

She added: “I’m so used to it now, that to be honest it doesn’t really bother me any more.

“This area has a bit of reputation for drugs, but then again I think the whole of Worksop has the same problem.”

Worksop resident Jayne Gray commended the police for their work, but she believed there were “many more” drug hubs operating around the town for police to crack down on.

Anyone with information that could help Nottinghamshire Police with their enquiries should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
