A relative of the One Direction star Louis Tomlinson will be pounding the streets for her local children’s hospice, Bluebell Wood.
Sally Deakin of Bessacarr, Doncaster will be taking part in the Sheffield Half-Marathon on 6th April to aid the North Anston-based hospice where Louis acts as patron.
The 29 year-old Social Worker is the sister of Louis’ mum’s fiancé, Dan Deakin.
Sally started running in 2012 with Footmark Running Club and has participated in a 10k race, which has given her inspiration to run even further.
Sheffield will be a big challenge but she has been hard at work training with her club up to three times a week in preparation.
And she will join thousands of other runners as they take to the streets to complete the 13.1 mile route in the city’s oldest race.
“I’m passionate about children and young people and became aware of the fabulous service Bluebell Wood provide, to children and their families, when Louis became a patron,” said Sally.
“To be able to support them and make a difference through this run is incredible and will spur me on.”
“This will also be an amazing achievement for me personally and I would encourage anyone thinking about running the race to get out there and do it for Bluebell Wood.”
Gail Parkin, fund-raiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “I’d like to thank Sally for taking part in the Sheffield Half-Marathon in aid of Bluebell Wood.”
“As we receive less than five per cent statutory funding, we really rely on the support of local people such as Sally to allow us to continue offering our services to children with a shortened life expectancy.”
“We still have some places available so I would encourage any local runners to sign up and run for Bluebell Wood.”
