Jane and Terry Tomlinson were delighted to host TV Chef James Martin and his BBC film crew at Redhill Farm Free Range Pork.
The crew spent five days filming at the farm near Gainsborough this Summer as part of the new BBC2 series, James Martin’s Food Map Of Britain.
The filming included James helping Terry and Jane out on the farm and then cooking their national award-winning free range pork in the barn where the feed for the pigs is milled using corn grown on the family’s RSPCA Freedom Food accredited farm.
The extensive filming included some amazing aerial shots as well as the smokehouse and butchery as the team prepared for a farmers’ market, before moving on to location at Lincoln High Street Farmers’ Market.
“James was able to find out first- hand how everything we do is based on the highest standards and simplicity,” said Jane.
“From the ethical animal husbandry, to every stage of the production process, to produce pork of proven quality with genuine provenance.”
“Filming with us was particularly enjoyable for James and close to his heart having been brought up looking after pigs on the estate farm at Castle Howard which his father managed,” she added.
And James Martin was so impressed with how Jane and Terry farm and the quality of their pork that he has asked Redhill Farm to supply his new restaurant, James Martin Manchester, which opened last month.
After his visit to Redhill he told his thousands of followers on Twitter: “Redhill Farm Free Range Pork Lincolnshire for the best tasting pork yet! Just had some, you have to try it.”
The new 10 episode series for BBC2 was aired each night at 6.30pm between 16th and 27th September.
It focused on the importance of knowing the real provenance of our food and highlighted the benefits of buying direct from the people who produce it.
The Lincolnshire episode was broadcast on Thursday and covered pea harvesting on the fens as well as free range pork at Redhill Farm.
All of the episodes in the series including the one filmed at Redhill Farm are still available to watch through the iplayer on the BBC website.
