READER LETTER: Dementia - Support is out there

I'd like to thank all of your readers who helped us confront dementia during Dementia Awareness Week in Lincolnshire recently (May 15-21).

We had busy public information stands in Louth, Skegness, Lincoln and Boston. We gave staff at Siemens and school children in Sleaford a better understanding of dementia through our Dementia Friends information programme. We celebrated the launch of a Dementia Action Alliance in Gainsborough and gave talks about the condition in Mablethorpe and Woodhall Spa. And we even had a ‘dementia friendly’ cinema screening of Singing in the Rain at Bishop Grosseteste University.

Dementia affects 11,000 people in Lincolnshire but many are living without any support or advice.

We are calling on people to confront dementia head on and to come to Alzheimer’s Society for help and support - call the Lincolnshire Dementia Family Support Service on 01522 692681 or speak to your GP if you are worried about your memory.
