A number of officers carried out the simultaneous warrants at properties in Burton Street, Linden Terrace and Waterworks Street.

A man, aged 45, and a 40-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the Waterworks Street address on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

At the Burton Street address a small amount of drugs were found (class to be ascertained), along with drugs paraphernalia and a quantity of cash. Enquiries are being made to trace and interview the occupiers, who were not there at the time.

A quantity of cash and drugs paraphernalia were found at Linden Terrace. No arrests were made.

The search warrants, under section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act, were carried out by a number of local officers and officers from EMOpPS for Tactical Search Team and the dog section.

DS Andrew Kirk, from Gainsborough CID, said: “The execution of these warrants is based around intelligence that occupants at one of the properties collect and store drugs and distribute them to others at the associated addresses.

“We’ve undertaken this action today because we’re committed to targeting drug crime and the associated ASB issues that go along with it.

“This type of offending is some of the worst that can and does affect innocent people on the streets where they live.

“It is simply not acceptable. Families, children, elderly or vulnerable people, in fact anyone who doesn’t want to have anything to do with this type of criminality, shouldn’t have to live with this on their doorstep and we are continually doing our utmost to tackle this type of crime.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the members of the community who have passed information and intelligence to us.

“It’s not an easy thing to do but all those snippets of information have helped us build up a case strong enough to be able to carry out days of action like this.

“We are grateful and we are listening, please keep talking to us and we will keep trying to tackle these issues.”
