The ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ Feed the 1,000 challenge was created to show how 1,000 people can be fed on the average amount of food a family wastes a year - £700.
The live, sustainable, cookery demonstrations are designed to change habits, develop new skills, save money and help the environment. The initiative aims to tackle the food waste problem crisis through cookery entertainment centred on creating delicious food from leftovers and by giving people hints, tips and ideas for planning meals, storing food and measuring out portions.
Kevin Parker, Regional Communications Manager for Veolia Environmental Services, says: “Events such as the Love Food Hate Waste Feed 1,000 challenges are a great way of encouraging people to learn new culinary skills and be more experimental with their cooking – helping households to save food and money.”
The events are open to all Nottinghamshire residents. Entry is free and the 1,000 lunches are provided free of charge.
As part of the events we have space for up to 30 stands for local groups & charities to have a free stand, activity space or performance area to promote their group to all the feed 1,000 visitors, we are especially seeking free family friendly games / activities.
We’d love for you to be involved in any or all of the events, please get in touch: (firstname.lastname@example.org) or see: www.veolia.co.uk/nottinghamshire if you would like a stallholder information form, or would like to volunteer to help at the event or hand out flyers.
