Learn furniture painting skills at pop-up workshop at Gainsborough Old Hall

A pop-up workshop at Gainsborough Old Hall will give you the furniture painting skills you need to transform your own home.

On Saturday, May 7, the medieval manor house will host a workshop by Bricktree Gallery, teaching visitors three essential techniques with world-famous Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and waxes that can give furniture distressed, crackle and rustic aged looks.

Victoria Mason Hines, site co-ordinator, said: “This is the perfect course for absolute beginners.

“We’ll be providing all the materials you need, so you don’t have to bring a thing – apart from your creative imagination.

“We’ll also be providing a delicious light lunch in our Chambers Coffee Shop.

“We’re really excited to be hosting Bricktree Gallery and this is sure to be a popular event, make sure you book your place soon.”

Sarah Lamballe, of Bricktree Gallery, said: “I was looking for suitable pop-up venues around Lincolnshire to take our Annie Sloan workshops on the road, following a recent fire at Jim’s Yard.

“When I met Victoria from Gainsborough Old Hall at a tourism event it was perfect. She had already discovered transforming old furniture with the paint and so was as keen as I was.

“The medieval building is such an inspiring setting for working with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colours which derive from English, French and Italian heritage colours.”

The workshop runs from 10am to 2.30pm. Places cost £65 per person, which includes a 10 per cent discount from Bricktree Gallery. To book, contact Bricktree Gallery by calling 07745 215689 or email [email protected].

Bricktree Gallery will be running a second workshop at the Old Hall on Friday, July 8.
