The iconic piece by Paul Cummins, opens at the castle on Saturday, May 28 and will remain in place until September 4.

The piece features 88,246 poppies – one to honour each one of the British and Colonial soldiers who died in the First World War – in a sweeping arch of bright red flowers.

Coun Nick Worth, Lincolnshire County Council’s executive member for culture and heritage, said: “There’s already a sense of anticipation building around the city, and I’m sure people will travel from far and wide to see this iconic work.

“It’s a tremendous honour for us to host them.

“I’m sure the castle will be a wonderful setting for this moving tribute.”
