Iconic Poppies sculpture arrives at Lincoln Castle

Preparations are almost complete for the opening of the Poppies: Wave sculpture at Lincoln Castle this weekend.

The iconic Poppies: Wave installation opens at Lincoln Castle this weekend

The iconic piece by Paul Cummins, opens at the castle on Saturday, May 28 and will remain in place until September 4.

The piece features 88,246 poppies – one to honour each one of the British and Colonial soldiers who died in the First World War – in a sweeping arch of bright red flowers.

Coun Nick Worth, Lincolnshire County Council’s executive member for culture and heritage, said: “There’s already a sense of anticipation building around the city, and I’m sure people will travel from far and wide to see this iconic work.

“It’s a tremendous honour for us to host them.

“I’m sure the castle will be a wonderful setting for this moving tribute.”
