The Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be featured in BBC1 programme Helicopter Heroes

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is set to star in the sixth series of the popular BBC documentary Helicopter Heroes.

The fly-on-the-wall documentary follows the work of the two Yorkshire Air Ambulances as they help seriously ill and injured patients across the region.

The programmes will air on BBC1 at 9.15am on weekdays for four weeks in October and illustrate the skills and dedication of the air ambulance paramedics who save lives every day.

The new series features some exciting real-life rescue missions and sees crews working alongside their ambulance service colleagues on the ground, mountain rescue, the police and fire services, as well as coastguards, to help rescue and treat patients.

Dr Alison Walker, the air ambulance’s executive medical director said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance plays an integral role in the region’s ambulance service and Helicopter Heroes gives viewers a chance to see some of the many incidents our staff attend.”

“There are some excellent examples in this series of the expert clinical care given to patients when they find themselves in the most difficult circumstances and at their most vulnerable.”
