A new coach tour aimed at national travel trade operators and travel agents has been launched in Gainsborough to bring more visitors to the town.

The tour was developed by Gainsborough Town Partnership, Gainsborough Old Hall and Marshall’s Yard.

Samantha Dodd, Gainsborough Town Partnership Manager, said it was really important to keep the town’s offering fresh to attract more group visitors.

She said: “Scheduled coach tours have been coming to Gainsborough for many years to see the Old Hall and learn more about the town’s role in the history books of England.”

“But because the old tours only focused on one attraction, visitors would come and go in a matter of hours, without ever venturing into the town itself.”

“So we saw the opportunity to develop a new tour which includes Marshall’s Yard and the town centre.”

“By refreshing the tour we have made it more attractive for day trippers.”

“We hope that it will increase footfall into the Gainsborough town centre, encourage visitors to take part in some retail therapy in Marshall’s Yard and order refreshments in cafes and restaurants, whilst still enjoying the history and heritage of Gainsborough Old Hall”.

Alison Hall, Assistant Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard, said they fully supported the new coach tour as it strengthens the shopping centre’s offering to coach visitors.

She said: “Marshall’s Yard is already a popular attractive with visitors spending a few hours shopping.”

“But we wanted to join forces with Gainsborough Old Hall and the town centre to encourage visitors to stay for the whole day, rather than just a few hours”.

Victoria Mason, site co-ordinator at Gainsborough Old Hall, said: “Our focus is about getting new visitors into Gainsborough who have never been before, and not only increasing visitor number to Gainsborough Old Hall, but across the whole town”.

The Gainsborough coach tours are being sold to visitors across the UK through travel trade operators and travel agents.
