Gainsborough man accused of domestic assault to face trial

A Gainsborough man accused of carrying out a domestic assault will go on trial in May.

William Andrews, 39, is alleged to have assaulted Karen Thompson on Sunday, March 6, this year.

Andrews confirmed his name and address when he appeared in the dock at Lincoln Magistrates Court yesterday, Monday, March 7.

He then entered a not guilty plea to the charge of assault when it was put to him by the clerk of the court.

A bench of three magistrates adjourned the case for trial at Lincoln Magistrates Court on May 13. The trial is expected to last half a day.

The prosecution did not oppose an application for Andrews to be granted bail until the date of of his trial.

Andrews was granted bail by the magistrates on condition that he does not try to contact Karen Thompson or another named witness.

He must also live and sleep at an address in Woodfield Road, Gainsborough, and not go to Clinton Terrace, Gainsborough.
