Two women have decided they want to help raise money for two cancer charities by throwing a black tie ball.
Janice Forrester and a friend of hers want to do their bit to raise money for cancer research after two of their friends were affected by Pancreatic Cancer and Breast Cancer.
To raise awareness and funds for Pancreatic Cancer Research and Breast Cancer Research they are hosting a charity ball on Saturday 28th June at the Western Rooms in Gainsborough.
Janice said: “We chose these charities because we both have friends who have been affected by these two cancers.”
“We chose the Western Rooms because they do a fabulous meal, the venue is lovely and they have a great reputation.”
The event starts at between 7pm and 7.30pm and includes four course followed by a raffle with tickets being sold on the night, fun table games and an auction.
Janice added: “We have been lucky enough to secure the services of an auctioneer from Drewery and Wheeldon, so with his expertise we hope we will get the best prices possible on the night.”
“We have had some fantastic raffle and auction donations from businesses locally and from outside Gainsborough.”
Some of the items up for auction include lunch for two at Winteringham Fields, the latest Pandora bracelet with ‘Hope’ charm, £25 voucher for Johnson’s Fish and Chips, free passes for DW Sports, an overnight stay for two at The Best Western Oaklands Hotel, Laceby and golf for four people at Gainsborough Golf Club.
Janice said: “A professional photographer will be joining us to take photographs of everyone in their finery should they so wish, and if they would like to purchase any of the photos they will be available to take home that night, at a reasonable price.”
“We will finish the evening with a local disco to dance the night away, until carriages arrive at 1am.”
Tickets for the event cost £40 and are available from from Janice by calling 0777 287 1725.
Janice said: “The cost of tickets are £40 each, which we think is great value, when you consider a four course meal, wine, and disco, not to mention having a great night out.”
“Even if people don’t spend anything on the night, which of course we hope they will, a percentage of their ticket is going to a great cause.”
“Tables of 10 are available, however if anyone would like less tickets that won’t be a problem, they can join others and make new friends.”
“Some ladies are even leaving their other halves at home, and having a girls night out, giving them a good excuse to go shopping, get their hair and nails done, get glammed up and have a boogie.”
