Any amount of Government cash to fix our damaged and pothole-ridden roads is to be welcomed.
But the £5.5 million allocated to Lincolnshire last week can only be described as a ‘drop in the ocean’ by anyone who regularly has to use the county’s roads.
Any motorists who have to drive to work or take our children to school in the Gainsborough area will have rattled along damaged routes, many of which feel like that have been neglected for decades.
It appears councils up and down the UK simply do not have sufficient funds to bring our roads up to standard. On many of the routes around West Lindsey potholes seem to appear as quickly as existing ones are filled in and £5.5 million will do little to improve matters.
