Residents in areas like Clowne, Creswell and Whitwell are to get a major employment boost in their area after plans were announced to create 5,000 new jobs on their doorsteps.

The Markham Vale Environment Centre, which is at the heart of Derbyshire County Council’s Markham Vale regeneration site close to junction 29A of the M1, is to be extended in a £975,000 scheme.

The funding will be used to develop the northern part of site, including a new link road, where the former Seymour Colliery site once stood.
