CANDIDATES for the upcoming by-election in the Gainsborough East Ward on West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) have been revealed.

The by-election is to replace Coun Mel Starkey, who sadly passed away last October. The nominees are as follows:

l BINNS, Mark Anthony: 24 Acacia Avenue, Gainsborough, DN21 1EZ - Liberal Democrats

l BUTROID, Richard David: 1 High Street, Sturton-By-Stow, Lincoln, LN1 2AE - The Conservative Party

l DEVINE, Mick: 26, Marshall`s Court, Spring Gardens, Gainsborough, DN21 2AG - The Labour Party

l THOMPSON, Howard: Corner Farmhouse, St. Mary`s Lane, Claxby, LN8 3YR - UK Independence Party (UKIP)

West Lindsey District Council has issued the following information for residents regarding voting:

l Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Guildhall, Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, DN21 2NA by 5pm on Wednesday 30th January.

l Applications to vote by proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Guildhall, Marshall`s Yard, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, DN21 2NA by 5pm on Wednesday 6th February.

l Applications to vote by proxy applied for on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 6th February must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 14th February.

Coun Starkey, 61, was first elected to WLDC in 1987 and had an illustrious career.
