Wettest year on record
Gainsborough news
OFFICIAL data shows that 2012 was the wettest year on record in Lincolnshire’s history.
The Met Office has revealed 841mm of rain fell across the county - topping the former record set 100 years earlier in 1912 when 827mm fell.
Last month, December 2012 was the fifth wettest on record at 103.4mm - in the month that saw a flood warning in and around Gainsborough along the River Trent after continuous heavy rain.
The weather saw the tidal Trent burst its banks in several places and even flooded the A57 toll bridge at Dunham-on-Trent - causing delays and long diversions for motorists for miles around.
The bridge is now fully re-opened.
