Watch out for the potholes
Rural land and business group the CLA is urging motorists to watch out for potholes and avoid a hefty repair bill.
Every year when temperatures drop below zero, water freezes in small cracks in the road. As it freezes it expands and breaks the surface, then melts and repeats the following night in a cycle that allows them to get bigger.
CLA spokesman Tim Barnes-Clay said: “Potholes affect every road user – but especially motorists in rural locations where roads tend to be neglected at the best of times.”
“Local councils need to take action in alleviating this problem but motorists should play their part in reporting them.”
