Recognising dedication to service was the order of the day for WRVS volunteers at a special awards ceremony held at Bassetlaw Hospital.

Twelve proud volunteers were presented with medals by WRVS locality manager Debbie Bailey on 13th March.

Local service manager John Jewitt said it was great to see the volunteers’ hard work rewarded.

“Our volunteers don’t just work for the hospital but also for the elderly people of Bassetlaw .

“It gives those living at home a real lifeline,” he said.

“The WRVS offers a wide range of services - from working in the tea shop and delivering books to the Befriending Scheme and the Hospital to Home service.”

He added: “This year is the 75th anniversary of WRVS and to mark the occasion there will be a thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey on 27th May in the presence of our President, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.”

“Some of our volunteers have applied to go to this prestigious event.”

The WRVS is always looking for male and female volunteers to help out at the hospital.

Said John: “It doesn’t matter what age you are - volunteering for the WRVS gives you invaluable experience which you can take forward for the future.”
