TROLLIES were brimming over with wholesome food for needy animals after a collection for Thornberry Animal Sanctuary.

Wildbore Vetstop in Worksop made the donation to the North Anston-based sanctuary, where staff were ‘absolutely delighted’.

Four trollies full of the feed - weighing in at more than 150kg - was handed over recently after a year-long collection.

Customer care manager Jenny Bricklebank said: “We do the veterinary work for the smaller animals at Thornberry and always support them in any way we can.”

“One of our suppliers does a reward scheme for our staff. The more food they sell, the staff get some for free. And they donated that free food to Thornberry,” she added.

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary was founded in 1988. For the last 25 years it has helped save the lives of thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals and birds .

The tough economic climate of recent years has seen demand for Thornberry’s services rise as people struggle to afford to look after their pets.
