Thief spared prison term

A PROLIFIC thief has been spared prison after magistrates heard he was trying to turn his life around.

Ian Joseph, 34, of Caunton Avenue, Mapperly admitted stealing two lipsticks, worth £20, from the Body Shop in Worksop on 9th January.

Defence solicitor David Verity said Joseph has moved to Nottingham for a ‘fresh start.’ On previous occasions he would get involved with drugs and theft when released from custody.

Mr Verity said: “He has a bad record but is desperate to some himself out. For the first in a long time he has a real chance because he has supported accommodation.”

Joseph was given a 12 month community order and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.
