A Gainsborough man broke into an empty house in the town looking to steal, Lincoln Crown Court was told this week.
Daniel Dziwota entered the property in Stanley Street believing there was a computer inside.
The teen was described as having gone ‘completely off the rails’.
James Cleary, prosecuting, said the beading around one of the window frames was removed allowing the glass to be removed to give access to the house.
The owner, who had only recently bought the property, returned to check on the premises and found a crate of lager bottles were missing.
A number of bin bags full of items belonging to the previous occupant had also been removed but it was found that they had been dumped in the garden of the property.
Dziwota was linked to the raid after his blood was found around the house’s kitchen window frame.
The 18-year-old Dziwota, of Kexby Walk in Gainsborough, pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal on 15th June 2012.
He was given eight months at a young offenders’ institution but was released immediately because of the time he spent in custody while on remand awaiting his court appearance.
Jonathan Dunne, defending, said Dziwota admitted going into the property looking to steal anything of value and believed there was a computer inside.
He said his client left without taking anything and he denied stealing the alcohol.
Mr Dunne said that at the time of the offence Dziwota had only just turned 18 and had moved out of his parents’ home after they became angry at his drinking habits and his behaviour.
Mr Dunne said: “It does seem that in the last couple of years he has gone completely off the rails.”
Dziwota then denied a second charge of burglary at a property in Bacon Street, Gainsborough, on 17th June of last year and was cleared after the crown prosecution offered no evidence against him in relation to the incident.
