POLICE arrested 30 people during a day tackling burglary this week.

Across the county six people were charged for burglary, seven properties searched and nine vehicles were seized for various offences.

A number of police operations took place, including raids, patrols, ANPR operations targeting vehicles that are known to be linked to burglary and searching second-hand dealers for stolen property.

Officers were also distributing crime prevention leaflets to members of the public to advise them on how to secure their home and to be cautious of doorstep callers. House burglary is four per cent of the overall crime rate in South Yorkshire and in the last week 38 per cent of all house burglaries, 31 out of 82 offences, were as a result of homes being ‘insecure’ due to having an open door or window.

Assistant Chief Constable Max Sahota who lead this day of action said; “As a force we will continue with Impact as a commitment to our communities to tackle key crimes and target criminals in South Yorkshire who make peoples lives a misery.”

“Not only will we bring these offenders before the courts but we will also seek to seize their assets, which are often illegally gained.”
