Sarah Stevenson visiting Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice

A THREE times World Taekwondo champion has become the latest ambassador for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Sarah Stevenson, who was also the first Britain to win an Olympic medal in Taekwondo when she took home bronze at the Beijing Olympics, accepted the role on a recent visit to the North Anston charity.

The 29-year-old has set up Sarah Stevenson Inspires, which aims to educate and train young aspiring Taekwondo athletes and is now taking her work with children one step further with Bluebell Wood.

Sarah, from Doncaster, visited the hospice to meet the children and families, and jumped at the opportunity of becoming an ambassador.

She said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to become an ambassador for Bluebell Wood and am really looking forward to working with them. I was really inspired on my recent visit there and think the work they do is amazing.”

Sarah joins fellow Bluebell Wood ambassadors, international football referee Howard Webb, chart topping singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, also from Doncaster.

Heidi Megaughin, acting chief executive of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “It is such an honour that Sarah has agreed to join our Bluebell Wood ambassadors.”

“She is a fantastic role model to our children and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have such an inspiring, dedicated local girl who has chosen to support Bluebell Wood.”
