GAINSBOROUGH residents are warned to be prepared with more snow and perhaps blizzards expected to fall across the area tomorrow (Friday 18th January)

Earlier this week, heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures led to school closures and road accidents due to the treacherous conditions.

Temperatures are unlikely to rise above freezing, with snow forecast from Friday through to Monday.

The Met Office say that there is a ‘90 per cent’ chance of snow with the ‘possibility of blizzards’.

A spokesman said: “There will be low temperatures and icy conditions throughout the period.”

“Snow accumulations are expected on Friday with further snow showers on Saturday, perhaps lighter snow showers on Sunday.”

He added: “Strong winds at times will make it feel bitterly cold.”
