PATIENTS and staff at a Swallownest unit for adults with mental health problems experienced therapy of the four-legged kind, when Scooby the Pets as Therapy dog visited.

Scooby and his owner Ann Diaz visited Swallownest Court, run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation, and spent a morning performing tricks and getting lots of attention.

RDaSH occupational therapist Liz Dracas said research shows animals have beneficial effects on people such as improving mood, motivation and self esteem.

“Service users really enjoyed the visit from Scooby and Ann, and they said they found their visit relaxing and calming,” she added.
