The special event saw 51 children, 13 teenagers and more than 30 parents turn up to support the ‘fun for a fee’ fundraiser on Friday 15th March.

Academy mascot Dan 1 made a gust appearance throughout the evening, while master instructor Andrew Blinston demonstrated an array of martial arts moves to music.

Local businesses generated a whole host of raffle prizes and children got the opportunity to have exclusive play at Captain Jacks play centre.

Academy owner Rachel Blinston said the event raised more than £300 for Comic Relief and thanked everyone who supported the event.

“We can only describe this event as a fantastic and most successful evening - the academy was alive and fun with happiness,” she said.

“Every one of us helped to save lives and each individual has made a difference, so well done!

“These events are only successful because of parents, students and local business support. Yes, we organise them but you make it happen - a sincere thanks to all.”
