Prize for green design
Enterprise Award winners from Dinnington Community Primary School (l-r); Rylie Hogg, Daniella Wilson, Olivia Weston and Charley Buxton for their eco friendly meals trolley
INNOVATIVE youngsters from Dinnington Community Primary School were celebrating recently after scooping an enterprise award.
They came fourth out of over 50 schools with their design for an eco-friendly meals trolley.
The competition was part of enterprise and education programme Rotherham Ready in conjunction with design firm Gripple.
“The children worked with Rotherham Ready to come up with an environmentally friendly design,” said enterprise coordinator Helen Bennett.
“They came up with a lunch box trolley that was solar powered so the dinner ladies didn’t have to keep walking up and down collecting them.”
The children were presented with a certificate for their efforts at a recent school assembly - and they got another surprise they weren’t expecting.
Gripple will actually make their eco-trolley using the students’ designs.
“They all absolutely loved the experience, especially the visit to Gripple to see how things are made,” added Mrs Bennett.
“They did so well to come fourth with over 50 schools from across the borough taking part.”
“We are all really proud of what they have achieved.”
